Question time with Tracy Wong Photography
If you read my previous blog post you would have seen Tracy’s beautiful photos. I came up with some questions for Tracy to learn more about the person behind the lens.
How would you describe your photography style? What are your favourite things to capture?
I’d describe my photography style as natural with an emphasis on strong compositions. I tend to take my time to find the perfect frame while making sure people have a genuine expression. Though I shoot a lot of portraits, I don’t like posing people and instead let them interact with their surroundings.
Right now I’m a bit obsessed with capturing street scenes of Hong Kong, especially the iconic red taxis!
Where are your favourite places in the world?
Hong Kong always has a special place in my heart. I also love Oahu, Hawaii, where I fell in love, and Fes, Morocco, where I felt so inspired.
How would you describe your personal style?
My top priority is comfort, but I also like silhouettes that flatter my body type. I’d say my style is “relaxed chic”.
What things can you not live without?
Good question! I can’t live without some sort of a camera (be it a phone, SLR, or a plastic film one), Vaseline as my multi-purpose moisturizer, and a good pair of shoes I can walk everywhere with.
Describe your perfect meal? – If you have to mix spaghetti with chinese wontons to create it, then I won’t judge as long as it makes you happy.
I’m perfectly happy with a simple dish: Cha siu (Chinese barbeque pork) with rice!
What’s top of your bucket list of places to visit and/or photograph?
Iceland – I’d love to see the Northern Lights there and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Where do you find inspiration and what things do you look at?
I like finding inspiration everywhere. I just keep my eyes open for anything that strikes my fancy.
What’s the best piece of life advice you have ever gotten?
Something I’ve learned from my parents: always be kind to others. You never know how much a small act of kindness can mean to someone.
I had an amazing day with Tracy, she really knows how to put people at ease while photographing and I love the soft relaxed feel of her photos. There are more photos from this post on my twitter and instagram please follow and have a look. I would love to collaborate again on another post somewhere in the world, maybe the Northern Lights?
