Little Lost Ones Nail Polish
Why did you start making your own nail polish?
I had just finished university and was writing my CV so naturally I was procrastinating. I was watching Cougar Town and painting my nails and there was this little light bulb moment where I decided that I wanted to do something in life that I was genuinely interested in rather than something just to make money. I tend to need a creative outlet to keep me sane, so making nail polishes tailored to my own personal preference was perfect! But previous to that, I had seen a few indie polishes in America and really was inspired to make my own that reflected my own interests. It was ‘Crows Toes’ that I had first seen and even though I thought that they were gorgeous, the colours were too dark for me so I thought that maybe I could make unique polishes that reflected my colourful style. There’s something very desirable about having something unique which not many other people have, so for me it’s exciting to make something to make people feel that way.

What makes Little Lost Ones special?
I think that the polishes are playful and pretty. I’m a massive perfectionist so I spend a lot of time working on a polish before I release it in the hope that others enjoy them as much as I do.

Why did you call your brand Little Lost Ones?
I named my brand after my journey into adulthood where I left university and felt really lost in the world. I wasn’t a child anymore but I didn’t feel like an adult, so I named it Little Lost Ones after that feeling of finding your way in that limbo stage of your life. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve not found my way entirely! But I’m getting there by doing something that I enjoy. I’m sure a lot of people can relate to that feeling.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
My inspiration simply comes from things that I like and things that I think look nice. A lot of the time, I think of a name and I want to reflect that in a polish. Other times, I just sit at my desk with all the glitter and just mix until I make something that I like!

What kind of designs do you love doing on your nails?
Since I became preoccupied with making the nail polish, I haven’t really done much nail art. But I really want to try stamping next, people on Instagram are so good at it and I think I’d really enjoy that. When I did use to do a lot of nail art, my favourite design was a galaxy print.
Where are your favourite places in the UK?
I love visiting Brighton and London. My family live in Brighton so every time I go there, I feel like a child again and I love that feeling. My best friend lives in London, so we try to get a weekend trip of fun activities in when we’re both free. There’s always something going on there so it’s not hard to have a good time. I like how in both these places, the people are so colourful and visually inspiring.
What makes you happy?
The simple things in life, friendship, family and having fun. Oh, and Pretty things

What is the best piece of advice you have ever gotten?
I can’t particularly recall specific advice, but my mum has always encouraged us to work hard and to make things happen for ourselves because no one else is going to do it for you. You’re the only one who can choose how to live your life.
How would you describe your personal style?
I’d say playful! But my go to outfit would be high-waisted jeans, a crop top and platform trainers (I’m getting a pair of baby blue superga trainers for Christmas which I can’t wait to wear!).
What is the inspiration behind your new collection?
CHRISTMAS! The ‘North Polish Collection’ is a trio of polishes which all represent a different part of what I love at xmas (the Grinch, mulled-wine and sparkly stuff!)

Ria’s collections are always fun and playful so if you are a nail polish lover or know someone who is and want something individual then definitely have a look at Little Lost Ones on their Facebook page or Etsy store. Polishes start from £5.50, if you buy a whole collection it starts from £14.00. Trust me these little glittery polishes will make amazing little Christmas stocking fillers or presents bringing some sparkle for the holiday season or to your party outfits for those Christmas and New Year parties.
